Putin Warns Middle East Crisis Threatens Global Transportation Security
Speaking via video link at the 1st International Transport and Logistics Forum, Putin noted that the ongoing hostilities involving the US, Israel, and Iran have shifted priorities in transport and logistics.
"Events in Iran directly impact the transportation of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz. More and more countries and companies are considering not only the cost and speed of transportation, but decisive factors are becoming security," he said.
Putin added that the sustainability of transport routes and logistics chains, along with their resilience against military conflicts, crises, and other external risks, is increasingly influencing decisions.
The forum, held in St. Petersburg, opened earlier in the day and is hosting 73 high-level guests from 50 countries and 13 organizations, according to the Ministry of Transport. Around 50 events are planned, focusing on the development of the transport industry in Russia and across Eurasia.
